Connect Shopify to CoCo AI
Connecting Shopify to CoCo AI lets you use WhatsApp AI for product questions and automated cart recovery using your real store data. Follow the steps below to install the Shopify app, approve permissions, confirm the first sync, and run a quick setup check.
Prerequisites
Shopify admin access for the store you want to connect (a staff account with permission to install apps).
An active CoCo AI account where you can access Integrations.
If you manage multiple Shopify stores, make sure you’re logged into the correct store in Shopify before you start the install.
Install and connect the Shopify app
From your Shopify Admin, go to Apps and choose Shopify App Store (or open the CoCo AI Shopify app listing link).
Or Search for CoCo AI and open the app listing.
On the app listing, select Add app, then confirm you’re installing into the correct store.
When Shopify prompts you to continue, select Install.
Shopify will show a permissions screen explaining what CoCo AI will be able to access (for example: products, customers, orders, and store details).
Select Install or Approve to grant access and complete the connection.
If you deny permissions, CoCo AI can’t sync your store data and features like cart recovery and accurate product replies may not work.
After approval, you’ll be redirected back to CoCo AI (or prompted to open CoCo AI). Go to Integrations and confirm your Shopify store shows as Connected.
Confirm your first data sync
Once connected, CoCo AI starts importing your store data. The first sync may take a few minutes, especially for larger stores.
Products: used for accurate WhatsApp answers (names, prices, variants, availability).
Customers: used to recognize returning shoppers and personalize messages (where available).
Orders: used for order-related support and purchase context (where available).
For the quickest confirmation, pick a product you know well (name and price) and check that it appears correctly in CoCo AI after the sync completes.
What “synced” should look like
Your Shopify store appears as Connected in CoCo AI under Integrations.
CoCo AI shows that data has been imported (for example, product count, last sync time, or a “Sync complete” status—wording may vary).
Recent products and orders you recognize are visible in CoCo AI (where your plan/features include them).
Some stores sync in stages. You may see products appear before customers or orders.
First checks in CoCo AI (recommended)
In CoCo AI, open Integrations and confirm the connected Shopify store name/domain matches the store you intended.
Open your product view (or catalog area) in CoCo AI and spot-check:
Product name and price
Variant options (if applicable)
Availability / in-stock status (if shown)
If you use CoCo AI for cart recovery, confirm your store connection is active and that CoCo AI can access order/cart-related data as needed.
If your workspace has a setting for cart recovery status, make sure it’s Enabled only after you see your first sync complete.
Troubleshooting
Wait a bit longer: first sync can take time, especially with many products/orders.
Confirm connection status: in CoCo AI → Connections, verify Shopify shows Connected.
Check you approved permissions: if permissions were denied or interrupted, reinstall or reconnect and approve the requested access.
Spot-check in Shopify: ensure the store actually has products/customers/orders to import (for brand-new stores there may be little to sync).
If your CoCo AI workspace supports a manual Resync or Refresh action in Integrations, use it after confirming the connection is active.
Make sure you’re using a Shopify account with permission to install apps.
Retry the install and select Install/Approve when the permissions screen appears.
If your store uses additional security policies or approvals for apps, ask the store owner/admin to complete the install.
In CoCo AI → Integrations, identify the currently connected store.
Disconnect that store (if available), then log into the correct store in Shopify and reconnect.
When installing, always confirm the store name/domain shown by Shopify before you click Install.
Connecting the wrong store can lead to incorrect product answers and cart recovery messages for the wrong catalog.
Large catalogs and long order history can increase initial sync time.
Keep the connection active and avoid uninstalling/reinstalling while a first sync is in progress.
Check again later for a “last sync” time or status update in CoCo AI → Integrations.
If your store was recently updated (many products imported at once), it’s normal for the first sync to take longer than future updates.
Summary
Install the CoCo AI Shopify app from Shopify, approve the requested permissions, then confirm the first sync in CoCo AI. Once products (and other data) are imported, run the quick checks above to ensure WhatsApp AI answers and cart recovery are ready to use.
